How Deep Is Your Love?

How deep is your love, how deep is your love
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me

I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You're my savior when I fall

And you may not think, I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
And it's me you need to show
How deep is your love

I decided to do some radio station surfing on my way to work this morning.  Just pressing "Scan" listening to snippets of songs.  I get like that sometimes.  Need to find something different.  Spice it up a little.

How Deep Is Your Love? by the Bee Gees was playing on one of the "light rock" stations.  It made me smile.  I had a Bee Gees album when I was a kid and played it over and over and over.  I think my mom may have accidentally on purpose misplaced it at one point.  I had a major crush on Andy Gibb.

I love music from the 70s.  All kinds of music from the 70s.  When men were men... and they were not afraid to show their shiny medallioned hairy chests to prove it, even if they were wearing polyester pants so tight that you could see the size and shape of their package and even if they were singing love songs in falsetto tones while they did it.

I have several compilation CDs full of 70s music.  ABBA, Bee Gees, Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, Steely Dan, Olivia Newton John... Leo Sayer.  So many favorite songs.  And you know what, I'm not ashamed.  I will lie in bed and just sing along.  "Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance."  You know you remember when they did that song on the Muppets.

I've been known to drive around in the summer blasting some of that great 70s stuff.  Creedance Clearwater Revival.  Little River Band. Poco. Village People. Commodores. Chicago. Come on, you know you've turned up the volume on "Lady" and sang your heart out.

So lady
Let me take a look at you now
You're there on the dance floor
Making me want you somehow
Oh lady
I think it's only fair
I should say to you
Don't be thinkin' that I don't want you
'Cause maybe I do

Admit it, you want to rush to YouTube right now and listen to the song.

I don't have very many friends who admit to liking 70s music.  Maybe Janelle.  Yeah, I called you out. :)  I think she could probably take me on in a battle of the 70s music songs.

Yeah, no point to this blog.  Just felt like taking a walk down memory lane.

I think I'm going to go indulge in a little Afternoon Delight.  The song.   Not the act.

  1. TJ and I sing the 70's songs on long car rides like going on our Honeymoon! He knows most of the words but I sing what I think they say. Hey, I was but a wee one during the 70's!
